I am going to be there, and it's my second track day as well!! And I just switched to a GP shift... hope I don't forget!
If you upshift going down the straight and your engine redlines and your rear wheel starts sliding all over the place, it's a good sign you went the wrong way. Ask me how I know. :=/
I'd be all over this if I wasn't going to be out of the country that weekend AND have a 16.5 hour layover in London on my way back. :=/ I won't get back home until 5p Sunday and I'm afraid trying to ride Tally Monday would be just asking for more trouble than you know. Anyway have some airline miles they'd like to donate so I can change my ticket and get back to the US much earlier on Sunday?
Hey guys! Please let me know if you are planning to stay over and ride on Monday with us. I still have 8 spots open. Anyone riding with STT that weekend will get $10.00 off so your price will be $157.50.
Just a quick google from the airport addres to the track address found: distance 11.2 miles and 17 minutes You can do it keith.. I have faith in you
Hey y'all, My name is Reg from Athens, GA. I've been riding my '06 CBR600 for 6 years and carving my favorite GA/NC/TN/VA mountain roads for 4 years. Three years ago I taught my wife how to ride on an '08 Ninja 250, and nowadays she accompanies me on my motorcycle camping adventures. Even though mountain riding is an almost spiritual journey for me, I just can't get over the desire to take it to the next level...that's why I'm here. After saving up enough hard-earned cash, I bought an '05 Ninja 636 for a trackbike and got it all prepped for the track over the winter. Lately I've been blowing my paychecks on a race suit, new helmet, utility trailer, yada yada. We all know this hobby ain't cheap! So I'm finally ready for my first trackday, and I've chosen Lil' Tally on Memorial Day weekend. I'm really stoked, and already looking towards doing Barber in June. Which leads me to a few questions: 1) I'll only be riding the Sunday session. Is this OK as a first-time novice? Just making sure. 2) I plan to arrive sometime late Saturday afternoon to setup, introduce myself, kick it with y'all, and camp out on Saturday night. That way I would already be setup and ready early Sunday morning. Is that cool? 3) I flushed out the coolant and running WaterWetter, but do I have to do all that safety wire stuff in a novice group? 4) I've tried coaxing my wife into doing this latest obsession with me, but she's concerned about being blown away on a Ninja 250 while sharing a track with much bigger bikes. She also doesn't want to risk damaging her bike since she really loves that thing. Her confidence was shot down a year ago when she lowsided on Blood Mountain. I explained to her that instructors are there to help, everyone rides their own ride, and that Tally is 250-friendly by design. I'm certainly not going to force her into anything, but I'm open for advice if there's anything else I can say to ease her concerns. I'm sure I'll have a few more questions but that's all I got right now. I look forward to meeting everyone and attending many more track days in the future. Peace, -Reg
When you arrive on Saturday, look me up. My wife Peggy, who is 59 years old is an Instructor with STT. She would be glad to talk to your wife and share info with her. We will be pitted with a lot of the other Instructors and under an all white pop up canopy. She has a blue 600RR with number 55 on the front and mine parked next to her bike....a black 600RR with 215 on the front.
I'm sure your wife, after she watches you ride one day, will be wanting to do it too. If you were going on SAT, she'd be busting your chops to ride on Sunday. While one day is great, since you've already made the committment to the trip, why not ride both? You'll be beating yourself over the head on Sunday "why didn't i sign up for two days?"
1. it's ok, but you will be happier doing both days. it's way cheaper than barber. take advantage. 2. good idea 3. http://www.sportbiketracktime.com/track-day-regulations.html 4. my wife started on the ninja 250 at barber. yeah, she got left on the straights, but she hung just fine in the corners. we didn't have race plastics and planned to sell it, so I took off everything but the front fairing. it was fine. she moved to an '05 cbr600rr and now rides an '07 cbr600rr. maybe info on frame sliders, etc., here: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/index.php? good luck. we'll be there. I'll make sure my wife meets your'n. maybe your wife can do a 2up w/an instructor.
Better yet, put your name in on the Ride Right program for Saturday. If your name gets picked, you can ride for free on Saturday. Or you could put your wifes name in.
