First Gingerman event for me on my motorcycle (been there twice in cars pre-layout change). I look forward to getting back and learning more. The new section is a ton of fun, with a wonderful "track coming to you" feel right at mid corner and the blind up the hill exit. Big thanks to my instructor Jim!

    The new section is KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again to all the STT staff for doing what they do. Thanks tikki50 for posting up the vids, and saving me mega bucks. The go pro isnt 10 times better but it is 10 times more expensive.

I searched for Pinecom on ebay and got nothing, but I did find these.

Is this the same as yours?
Also did you shoot all your Gingerman vid from this past weekend with that tiny camera. If so quality is pretty good for that price. I need to get one.

    Thanks
    Steve

First trip to Gingerman for me. Did two days for the first time too. I need to get in better shape as my thighs are killing me Monday and Tuesday.

    1) Great track, but it isn't possible to "ignore those seams". I almost lost the front going into turn two when cranked over and crossed a seam. Also, you don't want to get stuck in one riding the same radius as the seam. No really scary moments, just lots of mildly distressing moments...

    2) Turns 9 & 10 are awesome. Got my knee down at last.

    3) I've had my suspension setup before, but I've always thought my bike handled like a small whale and didn't turn the way I thought it should. So, I went to see Ken at SB suspension and he turned a few knobs for me. He looked at the tires, pushed the front and rear up and down and then asked - "I suspect your're having trouble holding a line through the turns and it wants to run wide?". Spot on. I went out and it now tracked much better, but the rear end was dancing around on the brakes into turn 11. I told Ken and he said, "let's take two turns out on shock rebound". Again spot on, problem fixed. Bike then tracked well into, through and out of the corners. Bike now felt comfortable and I got a knee down on many/most corners for the rest of the day :)

    4) Thanks to STT instructors John (I think) on the yellow triumph that stopped running, and to Gary for showing me the proper lines around the place.

    5) Intermediate Sunday, T11 corner worker kept waving us off the track with his hand. No yellow, no checkered, no black, no red. Almost missed it a few times were it not for all the riders throwing their hands up at the same time. Something to share with Gingerman staff in the future.

    All in all great weekend.

    Richard

Mike, I am glad you had a great time. The group was a lot of fun for me. You looked like you were carrying a lot of speed down the back straight that last session...

Photos at Gingerman on Sat were taken by www.heavypennyphoto.com

I just checked and they are not up yet (as of Tuesday at ~11:00pm eastern).

I was there on Sat., and it was a lot of fun. The fog that rolled in during the first session made riding seem a bit surreal, it altered my perception of speed (meaning that since I was in novice and it was session 1 I couldn't differentiate between slow and really slow) but I thought it might make for a neat photo. More importantly, I'm really trying to refine my riding position, and nothing off-track helps quite as much as cringing at a photo of myself looking all weird and awkward. Neurotic power....ACTIVATED!

I rode a red Ducati 848 (Hopefully that doesn't trigger any, "Oh, THAT guy," reactions.) and really liked the new section, especially turn 10. I felt like I could carry decent speed at entry into the new section, for me anyway, and get a nice drive out of turn 10 once the pace picked up. I liked it much better than the old layout, but as I said, I rode in novice so I'm not exactly riding like John McGuinness.

To echo earlier posts, I found the instructors to be very helpful and engaged.

Turn 10 is a blast. Very smooth and changes character from beginning to end. I got my knee down for the first time on this corner, and was melting my knee slider by the end of day on Sunday. I know melting knee pucks is not a skill riders aim to achieve, but I was having a ton of fun none the less! Even though I kept adding throttle on exit, I have a feeling I could have been carrying a lot more speed out of it, as everyone was running away from me up the straight, but I'm a newb, so I've still got pleanty to learn. Thanks to Stuart on Saturday, and thanks to Nick on Sunday, I really learned a lot in just a weekend.

Ryroew I can only say one thing, be careful with the throttle like you I learned to apply throttle out of a corner but dam that time when you give it too much and FLING! off you go being superman. It happened to me last year at turn 3.

I clearly seen the incident on sat in Intermediate where the two riders traded paint the guy who tried to cut on the inside should never have even tried that I was basically right next to them coming out of turn 10. Total BS. he had no room, heck might have even went off the track some. Good work for the other rider to keep it up because if he didnt I probably would have went down. too bad I didnt have the camera on I would have captured it.

    A group

Didn't like going dirt biking on the Duc but I kept it up! Dam new lines get me all the time,Nick I hope your o.k. the bike had some road rash and the New helmet worked well.
Advance was fun and I learned a lot after you guys lap me three times a session but each time was in a diff spot on the track so it was a good learning session for me.
My 2:04 laps times made it easy for David Grey to lap me three times but I won in my class that day even if I was the only one in my class out with the Big Boys.........lol

 There was a session where I did carry so much speed braking for turn 11 that I broke your rule... and didn't make the turn. Thankfully, nobody else was around as I straight lined it up the pit entrance and made a slow tail-between-the-legs trip up through the pit to re-enter the track. Come to think of it, I think on that lap I was trying to learn your braking point for turn 11! Lesson learned.

I look forward to practicing more elbows out, and hope to update my forum picture with better form in the near future.

This is a (poor quality) version of one of the videos I shot during the leap frog sessions, any critique is welcome (lines, turn in points, apexes, etc)

Your lines look good. Not using too much track unnecessarily, & not over riding entries. Gold Stars for both you & Jim.
