Glad somebody else checked on him. John, I had my camera on, but it was so hot it was fogged over. I didn't see the crash, but here is a screenshot as I went by.. that's you on the left...You were still skidding when I saw you. There are plastic bits on the asphalt just beside me...
Sucks to hear about your crash John. Hope you have a speedy recovery sending some love from the Midwest.
I went and visited with John and Emily at UAB "Yesterday". He will be released sometime today (Tuesday) to go home. They are still holding him at UAB till they can get his pain meds sorted out. If you are like me, and live in the area, and want to help; I will be going over Friday afternoon and off-loading his trailer and trying to clean off the bike and prep for winter storage. I will take a small inventory of what needs fixin. Then I am off to Road Atlanta to see you guys.
Hope you recover nice and quick, and it's awesome to see what a good family this place is to you. Rest up, and let your brothers and sisters help you get sorted.
Whitney , I planned on leaving for RA around 1 or 2 on Friday. I can come help out that morning, just let me know.
Sorry to hear about your crash John, at least you have a great nurse by your side. Heal up and get back on that horse! Mark&Lois
cresting T4 at break-neck speed....it's #36! thanks to everyone for all the wellwishes and help. several visited in hospital, many called and it seems the whole STT family has posted on the forum, even friends I have yet to meet. thanks especially to those who loaded all our stuff (all STT members). I haven't seen the bike yet, but will post some pics -- maybe tomorrow. I'm home now. I think I'm done for the season, but we'll see. Certainly I'm not done for good. STT is a great group and we are all lucky to be part of it. I'll see you all asap.
I'VE seen the bike cause I put it in the trailer...you've got some work to do...but wait til those bones heal first. P.S. Your RH Clip-on (what's left of it, anyway) and your master cylinder are locked in your toolbox in the top (I set it so the fluid wouldn't leak out). Opie's got video of your last session, and my buddy Chris has some too when he posts up I'll link and let you know. P.P.S: When someone tries to roll it backwards, the bellypan catches on the rear wheel; I had to hold it down with a finger when backing it up. Rolls forward ok.
I am glad you are OK John!! Barber has been rough on you this year. I hope you heal quickly. I will sure miss riding with you and Emily at Road A. If there is anything I can help you with let me know.
We are going to miss you two at Road Atlanta. Relax and heal up quick dude. We will all have a beer for you this weekend.
everyone says today (wed) will be the pinnacle of pain. so far, they are all correct. it's like my entire torso is severely bruised. emily just showed me helmet, leathers & gloves. all did great, but helmet is done. leathers are fine, gloves are a maybe. I've still not seen bike. I'm swallowing more pills than I ever imagined. I'm really looking forward to being able to move without fear of pain.
Take the meds and sleep thru the day if you can. I didn't get a good look at you, but I didn't see the bruising I would have expected. And no rash. That's good.
Get well, fix, and return John, and Emily, Susan and I are stalking STT because haven't done any trackdays this year. Our teenage driver is costing us and arm and a leg, and we dont want to leave the house unattended for their parties while we travel to trackdays. Anyway, your mental focus will bring you back quicker than you know it. It won't seem like that while you are in the middle of recovery, but this time next year it will be but a receding memeory, albeit one that you will remember forever. Anyway, thinking of you and hoping for a speedy recovery. We hope to be back on the track after the one teenager goes off to college next year. We miss the track, the riders, and the great weekends with STT! Dont be a typical male patient. Do what the doctos, AND ESPECIALLY the nurse say! Todd and Susan
