As far as BHF goes - all I can say is things are in the works. BHF was the first track I raced at back in the 90's with SCCA and the first track I ever did a motorcycle trackday at... so it is near to my heart for sure. t
Dude, why you always gotta kill my buzz. Although Railings ribs and Perrones boil are worth the drive to GA for.
There were a lot of strangers (to me) last time. Throw in some coin to offset the cost of ribs/chicken and that's fine. I can't afford to pay for the track days and feed everyone, but if I break even on the meat, I sure don't mind feeding strangers.
We have a local place that has some bomb ass ribs, just let me know how many slabs. Palella had them at grattan (cooked by rob)
Have they continued to make improvements over the past 2 years? I know when I was there all the time with SCCA, there was a "new" owner and he was really trying to bring BHF back. Forget the his name, but he drives a GT1 Vette in SCCA and has some insane road cars too. Anyway, what I gathered from the people around me was that he was dedicated to making that place great.
he's done pretty well at upgrading, new pavillion, turn 2 was done a bit better, turns 1 & 7 were redone to make surface better.. he's working at it, but it goes in bites
He just paved all around tech shed, back out to 4-5,and back around to front of new pavilion. Will be nice to camp back by 4-5 yet roll sticky tires on pavement(not rocks). I too hope STT gets some dates there.
Honestly I think BFR/BHF is one of my favorite tracks, technical but very smooth flowing track, staff is wonderful, and it's only 20 minutes down the road from me! On top of that, it's a great spectating track as it is one of the few that I've been to where the paddock is in the center of the track! This may not mean much, but in the 3 TD's I've done at ACC and 3 TD's I've done/spectated at BHF, I've seen more wrecked bikes [people OK] from barriers at ACC. Granted, this may be a mere statistical happenings because in total there were more participants at ACC.
I agree with no track is ever safe but BHF is worse than other tracks. I rather do Autobhan North than BHF just for safety issues.
I heard rumors that T2's guard rail was in the works of being moved? Any word on that?? Haven't been back there since Deans accident in T2, 2-3 years ago now.
They moved it back last winter. :thumb: Now it's a clear shot if you run off in T2 to t-bone someone in the carousel instead of hitting armco. It's still an improvement though.
lots of improvements. new owner has sunk a lot of money into improving the place, and continues to do so. every year some trees have come down, surfaces have been repaved (or just paved) and buildings added or rebuilt. good stuff.
BHF was where i did my first track day/first crash. Only made it out there once this year for TD and once for CCS Looking forward to some BHF dates on the calendar next season.
