Yeah... supply and demand. They'll sell all the rooms anyway, so I guess they're just taking it to the bank. They price the rooms on the NASCAR schedule, so I was told it didn't matter how early I called. I found one down in Hoover, not too far... at regular price. Momma can sleep in a cozy bed and take a shower... just a cost of doing business for me, :hat:
Gotta be back at work on Monday... so the person I'm buying the room for will be my designated truck driver on the way home, on the northwest vector. Pity you ATL folks that have to trudge through the drunken NASCAR fans, eh? Gotta be vacated from Barber by 7pm, I'm sure. At least you don't have an 8-hour drive home.
I have been through that crap before and think I might have to take a right in Lot G on the way out until 11PM or so...:thumb:
i wish we only had an 8 hour drive home. we will probably hotel it on sunday night we reserved the room in april for like 50.00 per night. LOL! Ski
Dayum, I thought we were talking about SEPTEMBER (last weekend) NOT the upcoming weekend. Yep, full...and no reservation. Anybody got a double they want to share the cost with? Fri and Saturday nights?
For those going back to Atlanta, it is 40 miles longer, but with the NASCAR traffic it is pretty much quicker or at least the same and you keep moving, Take 59 North to Gadsden then jump on 278 over to junction of I285 / I-20. By that point the NASCAR traffic is usually being split up and traffic is tolerable.
ALSO, this morning I called the Hampton, there have been some cancellations and I snagged one of them for the STT rate ($89 a night when they are adversting over $200 for the regular nightly rate)...they had one other room available when I called at 10 AM. For you guys trying to get a room at the Hampton: 1. Call them every morning between 10 AM and Noon and ask about cancellations. 2. Make sure to ask for the STT rate as they won't offer it unless you ask. Any trouble, give them Brett Accord's name
