Way more to it than just throwing down some asphalt. Any decent track will have a good 6 figures in engineering into it even before any equipment shows up. Then roughly 3 to 6 feet of the earth gets taken out and replaced with various kinds of rock and base material. It goes on and on from there. It aint cheap.
but there has to be a way to bank roll this operation.. just cant give up, cus its hard,, how about if it is build in a slower pace, like 5 year project, lease out space on the property for buildings, and...
Mattie, We all share your enthusiasm. So much crap and red tape to go through just to get approval for such a project. So many hurdles and obstacles with locals being the biggest ones. There's a reason so many never get off the ground.
i think i know what im gona do for the next 5 months of my free time on,, thanks steve p.. i will call u tonite, around 6 or so,, if that is ok,
the guy sounded like a total jerk at start,, but as the video progressed,, i stated liking him more and and more,, i so want my track ,, even more now,
I've got the land and I'll bet my neighbors wouldn't even care. I just have to finance the 1.6 miles of 60-foot wide asphalt! If you guys want to throw a few bucks in, I'll let you ride on it.
Maybe you should do like a kickstarter. Offer x amount of track time for x investment. Again, we all want the same thing, but it's made of unobtainium. Don't mean to be a Debbie downer, but it doesn't matter if you say glass half full or half empty, it's only half. In this scenario, the glass needs to be overflowing.
I would like my own track but that's not going to be possible for a very long time, if ever. But thinking about it I would start with a kart track. I got a xr70 to tard out, play around with, and go fast on since I'm back in school and trackdays aren't happening as much as I would like. If you have some land, rent a bobcat or something, make a layout and grade it how you want, do the prep work. Start with concrete, throw down a concrete track. Won't be great but it's something you can have a blast on whenever you want. Upgrade from there, add on more track and configurations, maybe use asphalt this time. People do some insane stuff with small amounts of money DIY. Get a supermoto or a mini and have some fun, plus crashes hurt less most of the time.
