I cant believe no one stared a who's in thread yet. Headed over sunday night for monday only. Work got in the way this time. I am coming alone this time, I don't like to do that but i don't have a choice.
Count me in for Monday. I will be up there over the weekend helping out in TW's pits for the CCS Lightweight races. Since we live only a hour from RA, we plan on driving up and back each day. Looks like a sell out for all three groups on Monday, so expect a full pit and fairly crowded track.
Are we still able to plug in for power up on the front straight in the pits ? . have not been there yet this year .
Im in for both days. Anyone know if there will be a sportbiketrackgear truck there? I need a new pair of boots to go with my new leathers.
Hey guys, I'm going Tues the 6th. Will be my first track day at Road America. Any tips for the track / over all day at Road America? I was required to register in the Novice group. Also, will there be a photographer at the event? I'd really like to critique some pictures for riding posture - as well as hang some on the wall! Thanks!
Tip for Road America: Watch your gas tank. Those three long straights eat fuel in a hurry. Second Tip: It is just a track day so be careful drafting (if you draft at all), you never know when the bike in front of you is going to pull up and start braking.
no, no, no! no reason to draft at a trackday. hardly ever even do it racing! getting nose to tail while running close is recipe for big disaster.
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to come with a full tank and a 5-gal. If I run out, I'm sure there will be somewhere to buy gas at the track, correct? And about drafting - I don't plan on getting that close to other riders (Especially in the NOVICE group!). I also don't want to be "that guy" acting as Ricky Racer on a track day. Great! Are there other photographers as well? I assume so considering the size of the track!
there is race gas for sale at the track for a big price. Bring 10 gal. and what you dont use put it in your truck for the way home.
I would like to pit with someone who will let me share their generator. Mine was swiped from my garage Not sure if I will get around to purchasing one before Monday.
We'll see how much energy I have after a weekend of racing, contemplating hangin' around for a day and riding with you guys,we'll see....if not, have fun and be safe.
Hey John...I already said no thank you to 2 days of racing followed by a track day...I'll be up there Monday playing pit ^&%$# for Dale and Stacy tho so if you do come up pop by say hi 1 day in novice on a 600, you might get away with a full tank and 5 extra gallons.....10 definitely works tho...7-8 probably does as well...if it's a liter bike...bring ten and hope you don't have to fill up at lunch hehe (joking) For Jig - having been nose to tail with on2wheels a couple years back running him down on the cbr600 (those liter bikes is hard to catch on the straights...) ya I'm kinda with you on drafting and track days being a bad thing...I pulled out of his draft about 2 seconds before he popped up and grabbed enough of the binders to look like he was standing still as I whipped by him - and I wasn't that close to start with lol Race day at RA...hmmm in LW...I'm goign to grab a tow down those straight if I can I think...but that's racing....
