Personally, I won't be back in the country until the 9th. And i will feel more comfortable riding after a couple more weeks of physical therapy.
But i love me some Tally. Dont let the pictures fool you, it is VERY challenging. I have a ton of laps around there and figure out something new/good every time i go. I love the track; it is one of my favorites. Even though it seems to have bad JuJu for me for some reason. And the atmosphere at Tally is kickass. Everyone is "right there" in the paddock. It is real cozy. If i could be at Tally, i would. Without a doubt.
I wish I could be there. I'll be busy coaching high school football...well meeting on the weekends as coaches, anyway lol.
Road Atlanta isn't that hard to learn (compared to Barber). But it is pretty tricky in a couple of spots. Before I go to a new track, I always watch YouTube videos to get familiar with it. Start off by searching for smaller bikes. They will be going slower, but still on the right lines. Since they are going slower, it will easier to get an idea of the layout. Then once kinda familiar with it, do a search for bigger bikes to see what it looks like at speed. Like, start with a search for "D Expert WERA" or "E Expert WERA" (the "E" and "D" classes are smaller bikes, like 250cc-400cc). Then go to "LW Expert WERA" (which will be SV's). Then you could look at some that were "C Expert WERA" or "600 Expert WERA". That will let you see what the track looks like at speed on a 600cc. I specifically said look for Expert race videos because you can be pretty sure those guys are on the right line (especially when they are riding on open track, not looking to setup for passes). So they will be good videos for learning the track.
Going to give it whirl with you guys. Not my first event there, but it will be with STT. Be there on Sat only.
Thanks a bunch Chris. I have watched a bunch of videos. The one I have watched the most was of a lady racing on a 600. I can't remember her name, but it scrolls in the beginning and some guy jumps the start. She is on open track most of the time though with the exception of some pretty quick passes. Anyway I haven't done the watching it at progressive speeds and will do so. Never even thought of that. Henry
I'm not a smart guy, but I've been doing exactly what Chaotic said. I feel like I could ride RA blindfolded. But I won't.
Glad I could help. I have a ton of laps around Road Atlanta, but I have been watching videos also. Been a while since I have ridden at all and haven't been to Road Atlanta for about a year or so; it never hurts to brush up on lines.
T9 scares the crap out of me with my eyes wide open. ound: But it is a good kinda scared, sorta like the scared that goes along with bungee jumping, just not as extreme. You can't beat the feeling of going around T9 on a Liter bike with the throttle pinned to the stop.
I was just able to make myself keep a 600 pinned through T9...can't even imagine doing it on a liter bike.
