After watching my video's from sunday, I have to admit it sucks that the season is over. Being able to actually SEE myself and what im doing wrong...and how much tire i still have left has given me a whole new vigor to get out there and do it better. But alas....nothing is happening until next year. How do you guys stay sharp in the cold months? What does everyone do for fun?
I did some go-karting with RTRC last winter. http://www.mpgrandprix.com/ http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ9m3igcjCoR0hNnpdk2GZ4DvlMC6XoMb http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ9m3igcjCoRGsC6pyiFKALnJ7E0HFaKt http://www.meetup.com/RTRChicago/
I got one more track day planned with the GSXR and plan on a tear down and refresh for the RC this winter. Also I race my Sheltie in flyball more in the winter (he was #2 Sheltie this year, got beat out by a Canadian )
This is my first season and I'm wondering the same...cry is currently the only thing I have come up with. I seriously was having a hard time committing to putting my turn signals back on my bike last night even. The thought of a few street rides before the weather gets below 60 doesn't excite me in the slightest. I half jokingly suggested to buddies that we car pool down to RA in Nov...I don't have any cash for that, but if a serious movement was started I'm sure I'd find it.
Save money and buy a real track bike! During the winter months, I plan to watch and learn from my videos as well as recordings from others' in order to do what I can to improve. Also, play mad "Gran Turismo 5" online. If anyone plays GT5 online, hit me up. My PSN handle is "Mr_E2001". I race Ferrari F1's and Redbull X1's only!
Yea, the looming winter isnt going to help my decision when it comes to moving back to Houston. Those guys can ride 365 days a year. And there is, like, 3 or 4 tracks within easy driving distance. For me its mostly because i finally started making progress and feeling like i was really understanding what i was doing. I wasn't doing it well, mind you, but the first step is admitting you have a problem...lol. My first track day was just all about the experience. Just the "WOW" factor of being on a track. Especially because ive always been a very conservative rider on the street. 2nd day was learning what im supposed to be doing, and the 3rd day was finally figuring out HOW to do it. Now i have track blue balls and its a long lonely winter.
I'll need to focus on conditioning this winter if I'm going to make more progress next summer. I still have sore thighs from last weekend. The track bike is winterized and in storage, along with the trailer and other track stuff. The street bike is still in play, and will be ridden until salt on gets spread on the streets.
build tire budgets, replace parts that need replaced, make bike faster, get in shape, enjoy family time, work, get a pretty good group gathering together like go karts etc.. I don't mind an offseason one bit, keeps me coming back every year, if i rode year round i'd prob get tired of it, 100% honest there.
