Barber has a lunch wagon, bring cooler of stuff, grill (no charcoal grills allowed), or if you are sneaky fast jump in the vehicle and go up the interstate one exit to fast food places. Or get something out of the fridge and nuke it (got to rub it in so I don't hate it when I have to fix the toilet in the motorhome this week )
Two words: BARBER BURGER :lmao: Concessions there are good (and pricey). I usually send the kids over to the Subway past the gas stations on the main road. Hard for me to want to eat much until the end of the day, though...
Gotcha. I grew up in Birmingham. And my dad lives 8 miles from the track. So I might make him bring me some lunch if we don't just pack one the night before. Just curious. Thanks guys.
This will be my 2nd track experience.....I did little tally earlier this month and camped. Is Barbers set up the same pretty much for people wanting to rough it and camp? Unfortunately I haven't graduated to the travel trailer.
HOLY CRAP!!! Looking at the temps for this weekend it is going to be a SCORCHER!!! Start hydrating now!!
re: heat/dehydration we've been very happy w/coconut water and cell salts. I feel that coconut water is way better than any gatorade type product. yes, the basic taste isn't wonderful, but the ones w/pineapple are pretty damn good. cell salts: http://www.vitacost.com/hylands-bioplasma-cell-salts-1000-tablets plus, vitacost.com has free shipping over $49. we get soaps, detergents, lots of household stuff here. worth a look imo.
Last time it was this hot...I nearly got heat stroke (thanks to John and Emily the salts/coconut water really helped... I'm trying to figure out how to bring a portable bathtub, fill it with ice and just lay in it between sessions...
while I am not a huge fan of ice baths, here are a couple suggestions 1. the bathrooms are very cool and moist. It is amazing what a cold shower can do for you. 2. as stated above hydrations starts 48 hours (minimum) prior to the expected event. So if you are not hydrating by 8am Thursday morning, you are actually pretty close to the 5% section in the above chart by noon on Saturday. That is no matter what you have done Saturday morning. YOU MUST start by 8am Thursday to stay even. 3. it is location, location, and location in real estate, well for dehydration after actual hydration, it is Shade, SHade, SHADE. Remember soda is a DEHYDRATION fluid. 4. The three fastest area's on your body for cooling down are, your head, your neck, and your wrists. If you have some cool wraps, one on your head, one around your neck, completely around, and one around each wrist is very beneficial. 5. I ride with a one piece undergarment. I use MotoD's but for the most part they are all the same. I have two, I store them in COLD, usually my ice chest, in a two gallon zip lock baggie. putting them on is a B@@@@, but once you are riding it is like air conditioning. Trade them out every 2 sessions and it is amazing how cool you can keep your core temperature.
^^^^Sounds like someone was in the military lol. Other than suit in the ice chest but thats what we were instructed to do.
