I'm scheduled for May 30 & 31 at Bluegrass. This being my first time with STT, should I have received any offical document stating I have access? Do I just show up with ID? Also, are we going to be able to camp at the track? Thanks.

All you need is your ID. They will have a print out with your name on it and will cross it off when you sign in before tech. You will want to bring some extra cash though. Most tracks charge between 10 and 20 dollars for entry. This is in addition to the STT fee.

Today is May 19th. I was actually at the track May 17th. watching the guys screw tires together. Took a couple laps around the track (won't ever do that again on a motorcycle until it is completely finished). Now unless we are riding on the pavement that's already down then I can see it happening. I don't see anyone doing that with all the seams, uneven pavement or whatever. If we have to wait on the final layer then I just don't see it being ready in time. On top of that, all the mud and silt still on the track. I just don't know. Maybe I'm wrong but I've been here twice in almost 30 days (I live 10 minutes away) and progress seemed pretty slow for a thirty day period. We'll see. I could always bring the dirt bike.

That sounds like a lot of things to get done in less than 2 weeks to have a safe venue.

I agree with the sentiment about not caring about track facilities, but this is a bit concerning with respect to safety.

Just another reason why it would be great to have an official status update. That would allow participants to assess the facts and make up their own mind while there is still time to make other riding arrangements for that weekend.

How about an official word here from STT?

HEY RUG BURN .... A buddy of mine is helping with the tires on the track he said there was a two inch rise in the middle of the track did you see anything like this when you were there..? seems futile to be putting up barriers and not the last layer of asphault!

Not sure if there's a 2 inch rise, but I do know the way first or second layer of asphalt was laid the rollers they used to compact it leaves it very uneven. I'm going back this weekend and see what progress if any has been made. I'll take pics and post this time. Honestly I don't think even if they do put the final layer down it will be cured and ready to ride on. The aggregate (rock chip or gravel) they used in the asphalt mix appears to be 14-16mm. I'm no expert but I would've used 4-6mm aggregate. The bigger stuff just creates bigger voids or air pockets, making it less stable. The smaller stuff reduces this making it a lot more stable and less prone to cracking after many years of use. If they do get it laid and use this track May 30 and 31 there will be ripples and tire impressions no matter how much polymer they use. Sort a like a dirt track. But maybe the technology is different and I don't know what I'm talking about. Lets hope they don't use this track before it's ready. Other than that the track has an awesome design... My .02

My buddy and I are coming up from Atlanta to ride Bluegrass on Saturday and Mid-Ohio on Monday. We are both originally from Ohio and psyched about this moto-pilgrimage. We put our money down as soon as the '09 schedule came out and now we have our fingers crossed hard the track is ready to go next Saturday. Thanks Monte for keeping us posted and to those who are local and providing some eyes on the situation.

    Re: Follow the link

    Sux!!

Do they have an estimated time frame yet as to when the paving will at least start? Is June going to be safe or should we start looking at other tracks to make arrangements?

What is the reason? They blamed the weather the first 2 times, but the weather has been good and warm. Any info would be much appreciated.

Monte already stated in another thread that the reason for the delay was the governmental bureaucracy involved with making a post-approval change. This stalled funding which stalled construction.

But then they stated it was a go and construction never resumed. So, are they still waiting on funding/permits, or just an opportunity to pave?

I want to see if everyone else is reading the offer the same way I am.... they say we can get a credit voucher or a full refund. Then they say we can do Beaverun for $100. I assume the offer of $100 is in conjuction with the credit voucher or refund for Bluegrass. Does everyone see it the same way?

i read that the same way as a refund and then a discount for a 100$ trackday sounds good pays the difference in gas!
