I don't think you intended to mislead anyone. I am not trying to point fingers, only to get accurate information. I really want to know what is going to happen in June. I don't really care about the past or even May its just that I don't know what to believe. It was stated as if a done deal that May was going to happen. Then it was cancelled. I am sure everyone would have been perfectly ok and understanding if you said, "I am not sure if it will happen as a lot of things have to take place, but we are hopeful." But instead it was stated as fact. Now it is being stated as fact that the June date will happen, and I am trying to determine if it truly is or just an empty promise. If you are not sure, just say so. If you know it will happen, then great and I will trust you. See you in June.
Sorry Monte, just trying to lighten things up a bit. I'm sure it's stressful. I'm good at trying to make jokes at the wrong times.
Of course it will. But apparently this is what was going on there today to get ready for the June event. http://www.motorcycleaddicts.org/tr...rass-motorsports-park-dates-5.html#post179348
thats the entrace, the guy is pulling legs with that....or he's an idiot. many of my friends are down there just about everyday putting tire walls together.
Leave me be... save yourself while you still can... run for it!!! I'm ok, I understand some folks need to vent, it's a stress reliever.
Life is not always so go or no-go, sorry. Take a chance, it's just a track day not a heart-lung transplant!! !Don't know what to tell you. I say that to reduce your stress level that you wait until it is all done and then hope there is a spot open or someone willing to sell. Make sense? BTW - Form Brad Popple: Dear Monte and Bonnie, Thanks for talking with me on the phone the other day. I have great news for you even though we had to cancel the May 30th/31st event. We heard from KDOW and USACE and they accepted our preservation and mitigation. The money is in our account to move forward with construction and our contractor is being paid this week. Hinkle (our contractor) said Tuesday is the big day for mobilization since Monday is a holiday. Here’s what needs to be accomplished prior to opening the track for normal operations. We need to pave the next two coats of asphalt, expand the runoff and paddock space next to the pits, and install the balance of the passive safety features (guardrail, asphalt run-off, tire walls). We will continue construction past this minimal opening to satisfy phase I and have a competitive racing facility this year. The timeline for this opening is minimal, considering the top coat is an 86-22 polymer and curing is approximately 10 days and not the long curing process such as the 64-22 base coat (which we allowed to cure all winter). We can also host a bike event well prior to a large car event or race due to the larger amount of paddock space required for those car events. I do apologize for the cancellations of your April and May events and I hope it does not negatively reflect on your reputation in any way. Likewise I hope that your confidence and trust in Bluegrass (and Brad) has not wavered during this six week test of perseverance. We will make sure the inconvenience we caused STT and its participants that signed up for the cancelled events will be aggressively taken care of. Let’s discuss this on the phone as I have some good ideas to ensure a positive experience despite the cancelled events. Thanks again for your continued support as we raise the green flag for paving to begin! Sincerely, Brad Poppell President/CEO Bluegrass Motorsports Park
Thank you Monte for that info. Sounds promising. Hopefully Tues will be the day. When this thing gets done, I am sure you will make it worth the wait for everyone.
She also said something about not counting chickens. I know that Monte has our best interests in mind and I wasn't trying to bash him. I was simply trying to explain that we're all EXTREMELY eager to get on this track and when he says things like "this event is a lock" we all get pumped only to receive a cancellation notice a few days later.
keep up the good work monte. it will all be worth it when we are having a killer time at bluegrass this year. i vote for the safest track we can get. everybody is just anxious to get out there. hang in there
easy guys it does not end up well for people to complain ... http://www.sttforum.com/sttforum/viewtopic.php?t=5123&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 you have to figure with all that is being done just cancel and wait for it to open you wont be the first to be on the track but you could set the track record some other day... lol!!!
You are right... Momma always said not to count chickens. Sooo, until you are on the track, geared up, full of gas and testosterone that chicken isnt hatched. Any event anywhere anytime can (and has been) canceled for a number of reasons. I will say it... shit happens. It is a miracle if you can find a contractor to build a house inside of a schedule, much less a multi million dollar facility. Give the little fella a break, he is busting his ass and growing grey hairs to get this thing off the ground. He has been nothing but up front and has ONLY given the best information he has been provided with at that time, which is the best information that management has at that time, which is the best information that the contractors, lawyers, bankers, and legislators have at that time. That information is fluid however.. and it changes by the minute. I dont understand this idea that someone needs to fall on the sword for things going wrong. Sometimes the stars dont align.. but most of the time they do. My god people, we ALL want to ride it! that being said, Monte and Bonnie are not going to let us out on a track that is less than acceptable. If you are super worried, then wait till its open and proven, then sign up! Me? I will keep signing up based on the info i have. I have known Monte long enough to know he isnt blowing smoke when he says it will be open if he has a say in it. <stepping>
Exactly!!!! There are more important things in life to be getting all upset about folks. Hang in there Monte.
Wow, that's a pretty good punch list for anyone that knows how to read a Gantt chart and a weather forecast. Thanks for sharing the info!
JUST MY .02 CENTS I think brad gave monte and bonnie false hopes but it would appear that brad is trying to help you guys out you see i cant get a ticket so i am just frustrated with not being able to be put on the list yet! because i have no problem waiting!!! lol
"any project you plan will always take 3 times longer than you plan." this will henceforth be known as "Poppel's law." the problem is, even when Poppel's law is accounted for, Poppel's law still applies. I'm not trying to be down on Brad, Monte, or anyone else - my bitterness passed in April. people are, and have a right to be upset. That doesn't make it any one person's fault. make lemonade! (metaphorically speaking)
Brian, Lots of good points in your post, but I'm not sure if dragging this out is really helping your cause or that of your customers. Looking at the punch list, it is clear that the May date would never even be possible, and as such should have been cancelled weeks earlier. Just like other organizations did. That said, STT should have cancelled the event in a more timely manner, apologized and moved on. Instead an unworkable date was promoted as good, and that's why people feel misled. As a businessman, you understand that all too well. It would all be in the mirrors now, but the room for doubt has been created that enough due diligence is being taken with respect to the June dates. This is understandable from the perspective of the customer. I don't see where you or STT have much to gain by dragging this out.
If by "dragging this out" you mean posting information as it became available, offering a refund or a credit plus a massive discount for other tracks on the affected weekend so that your track fix could be had, albeit elsewhere; then yes, I suppose STT has been dragging this out. Heck by that gauge, they've made their name on "dragging things out", i.e. treating customers right and going above and beyond in making up for when things (largely outside their control) don't go absolutely, 100% perfectly at all times. If that's what you meant by "dragging things out", then argument over... you win.
Nick, The fact that you, as a staff member, think this is an "argument" speaks volumes, and does nothing for your employer's PR. I am a paying customer that has expressed my opinion in a calm and objective manner. I expected those opinions to be valued and treated with respect. If you disagree, surely it can be done constructively. Please tell me I wasn't wrong here too?
whats your problem man i didnt say anything except to relax and it will work itself out... I THINK YOU JUST LIKE TO TYPE TOO MUCH !!
