Good Weekend Dam Chrysler to hell for making me work............ilovemyjob DucFest! Hell or High Water should be a law when you cancel your Track Day for work you should get one Track day the next month if I Post my wifes cell# could one of you call her and tell her its the Law in that county?
i have a funny story about me and my destructive tendencies towards chrysler engines. no lie: it resulted in a new test added to the chrysler proving grounds.
Grattan this past weekend was my first Sportbike Track experience and what a great experience it was! A big thanks goes out to the instructors I worked with, Tea, Bam Bam and Dennis. I made Tea and Dennis nervous with my erratic riding as I was trying to learn what I should be doing. Each time they rode behind me, I keep riding like crap by going into the corners too fast. I felt like I learned the most when I was able to follow each of the instructors, especially at the end of each day following Tea and Dennis without anyone else around. It really helped to know how fast to go into each turn by just leaning the bike in and letting tires grip instead of parking it on the brakes like I was doing in the earlier sessions each day. Paraphrasing of some of the feedback and comments I received (that was funny depending on your perspective)... Tea: It is nice to have balls, but you need to learn more first to gain riding skills. Bam Bam: Follow me onto the track and I'll start out at 75%. (In the first 4 corners she left me in the dust before looking back to see she need to wait for me to catch up). Me after the session: I thought you were going to go 75%. Bam Bam: I meant 75% of the tire grip. Me: Oh, I was expecting 75% of a novice speed. (Thanks to Bam Bam for encouraging me to get my knee down and for being so excited when I showed her the evidence that I was able to). Dennis after following me: Slow down! Dennis after I followed him at end of day: Sign up for Intermediate next time. (Which I sort of took as a half-hearted recommendation -- more to get me out of Novice than the move up part as I still have much more to learn). I ran a 1:34.6 in my last session, any Intermediate riders want to comment if that pace is in the right range for your group? It was great to chat with the people I was able to. I wish there was more time to visit and meet more folks, but Novice was very busy all day long without much extra time. Thanks to STT and the staff for a great first experience! Matthew.
If you'll excuse my bluntness, there's plenty more to learn, but you seem to lack the patience required for Novice. There's other people out there trying to learn that we always have to keep in mind. Your pace will be fine in Intermediate. Just don't forget that there are Instuctors in Intermediate too. I'd highly recommend that you find one of them, before they find you. Be predictable, & remember that if you're wondering whether or not you can make a pass, the answer is No. Think slow in & fast out, & you'll get the most out of your next event.
Dennis, I appreciate your direct follow-up. I did give the instructors' feedback some thought since the weekend and understood what I need to be doing more of to be better. Apparently, I did correctly interpret your quick comments as we were leaving the course at the end of the last session. I do have a lot to learn. I agree with my lack of patience, but I did hear what was being told to me (even if I'm slow to apply the information). I very much would like to get the same quality instruction as I continue in Intermediate. I will certainly be seeking out Instructors at my next event. I'll be at GingerMan on Saturday, Aug 14, 2010. Matthew.
this isn't by any chance, a reenactment of your conversation, is it? http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/6866827/
