    Sorry for the late reply, Matthew...

    Hey Matthew;

    So glad to hear you had a good time and an even better learning experience with us! I didn't have the pleasure of riding with you the first day, but I can say on the second day you improved greatly from the morning sessions.

    You asked about moving to intermediate. Want my 2cents? LOL--Anybody that knows me knows they're gonna get it solicited or not.....but I digress.....I did about 100 novice trackdays before I moved up. Okay, not a 100 but I intentially stayed there much longer than I needed to. The reason? To make the fundamentals STICK and to make damned-sure the bad habits did NOT stick. Novice is not embarrassing, it's not sophmoric, and it's not a necessary evil to graduate us to a "faster" group. It's a tool, it's a learning mechanism and it's THE number one best place in the world to learn to become the best rider you can be. You already noted, cleverly, that you had multiple instructors and you received different feedback from each of us. That's the name of the game. My recommendation would be to stick around, try a few different tracks--in novice. Are you ready, pace-wise, for intermediate? Yep! You betcha! You got fast! But anybody can be fast--until they crash. I'll quote Monte here: "The fastest you've ever been is right before you crashed."

    When anyone asks me if they should move to intermediate, my first question is, "Why do you want to?" To go faster? Nah!Group 1 (fastest) novice can run at a very respectable pace. Use novice as your practiceground to hone wicked skills in smoothness, blipping the throttle, correct apexing, throttle control, etc. The rest will be CAKE once you've mastered those skills.

    And Tea is 100% right. Balls only come in handy until you crash. DOH!

    Good luck to you, and hopefully we'll see you out there again soon! If I'm at Grattan the same time, look me up and we'll ride intermediate together ;)
