I'm pretty sure. I can't recall another time I was there. While I'm not the biggest fan of the track 4 days there in a row is appealing :D

I love the look of the layout, it is one of the tracks I really want to ride. Along with Mid-O and NJMP.

I do love the back straight all the way to the front straight, the uphill left leaned over and blind is fun. Honestly if they shortened the middle straight I'd love the track. The carousel is pretty awesome too.

I have the ecoboost 6 cylinder and it gets around 13 give or take a few 10's with three bikes and gear. I get as much as mid 22's without the trailer. I have been really happy with the performance because it pulls very well.

If you're even thinking about RA you should make it happen. It is an awesome track, even for us 600 guys.
Party Friday and Saturday nights with lots of great food and beverage, watch the AMA guys race Saturday and Sunday and move to the paddock Sunday night to set up for STT Monday and Tuesday. Wow! I'm telling you it doesn't get any better than that.
Your bikes will be safe, RA has pretty strict security which is why I'm surprised Perrone made the whole weekend last year without getting tossed.:D
RA is a huge complex so bring a licensed bike if you can. You can take a bike places you can't go in a car and believe me you don't want to walk.
A lot of great corners to watch the race from and I like riding the bike to each and every one.

Question for those of you that have already been to Road America.

I got bumped to A group at the end of last season so my pace is fast Intermediate, Slow Advanced. When I go to a track for the first time, I usually register Intermediate just because I don't want to feel pressed while learning a new track. On the other hand, sometimes Intermediate gets a little congested and I get tired of getting bunched up.

RA is a longer track so maybe there won't be as much congestion, plus I'll more than likely be on my ZX6R and getting blown by in the straights by the liter bikes. Anyway, just wanted to get some feedback. Maybe I should do "I" on July 3rd and "A" on the 4th.....

    Thoughts?

Definitely bring a scooter/pit bike to RA if you're going to the AMA races. The track is so huge and some of the hills are killer. I took my wifes 50cc Zuma all over the place and it was awesome.

If you got bumped to A then there is a reason for it. Someone thought you were of the skill set that you belonged there. You should not bump down to I just to learn a track. If you are an A rider you will figure out the track in one to two sessions and be good to go. Usually, no one is hauling the mail in the first one or two sessions anyways, letting the track come up to temp. Use those first two sessions to learn the track.

Please people, if you were bumped up, do not bump back down just to learn a new track. You are doing yourself, the coach that bumped you and your fellow riders a huge disservice by doing so. If you feel it is absolutely necessary to do so, than you should not have accepted the bump in the first place.

Edit: Road America is probably one of the easiest tracks to learn. Not much to it and plenty of visual references. Enjoy it.

I was wondering if you had the EcoBoost engine. As for R/A I have actually been there 6 days with STT already going back to 2006 I believe. By far my favorite party.....I mean place to ride. :wheel:

    Well said Steve.

Being an Advanced rider is more about your overall skillset, not your pace at a certain track. If you are an Adv rider at one track, you will be at another track also.

It isnt a race weekend. You can take it easy for a couple of sessions and learn the track.

Start out in the back, then just ride smooth and do your thing. The riders up front who are fast enough to catch/lap you are good enough to get around you.

I'm going to be in the same boat for the 1st few sessions because my bike currently has 0 miles on the odometer! I plan on taking off at the back so I can give the motor time to break in a little more after Putnam since R/A puts such a big load on engines. I figure by Saturday after lunch I'll let it go WFO. Which reminds me now I'm gonna have to do an oil change at the track damn it.:censored:

I asked the same question (N -> I) and got the same response. I did 5 days total last year with 4 in N and 1 in I. My last Novice day was basically Inter though...groups 1 & 2 were actually 1-6 or 7. It's a little nerve-racking to hop back into Inter after 7 months off the bike except for a couple of chilly street rides. As was stated though, I'm hoping all the cobwebs are gone after a couple of sessions.
